If I'm on a birth control pill how can I'm pregnant or not?

I'm on a birth control pill and my boyfriend and I use a condom every time we have so that isn't an issue. I'm just curious, because I am on the pill, how would I know if I was pregnant or not? Would I still get my normal breakthrough bleeeding or wouldn't I?
